TEXT TOOL
Remove Duplicate Lines
Paste a list with one item per line and get back only the unique lines, in the original order, with a count of what was removed.
How to use the Remove Duplicate Lines
Paste your list, adjust the options if needed and choose Remove duplicates. The first time a line appears it is kept; later copies are dropped. Lines keep their original order, so nothing is sorted unless you sort it yourself.
Examples and uses
The list apple, banana, apple, Cherry, cherry (one per line) gives apple, banana, Cherry, cherry when case-sensitive, and apple, banana, Cherry when case-sensitive is turned off. Duplicates removed: 1 or 2.
Limitations and good to know
Only whole lines are compared. “apple” and “apple pie” are different lines, and a line with extra spaces will count as different unless trimming is on. Very large lists (hundreds of thousands of lines) may feel slow on older phones.
