IMAGE TOOL

Image Compressor

Make photos smaller for email, uploads and web pages. The image is processed on your device and never uploaded.

How to use the Image Compressor

Select an image and the tool compresses it straight away. Drag the Quality slider to trade file size for detail: values around 70–80% usually look nearly identical to the original while saving a lot of space. When you are happy with the preview, choose Download compressed image.

Examples and uses

A 3 MB phone photo saved as JPEG at 75% quality is often a few hundred kilobytes, which is small enough for most email and upload forms.

Limitations and good to know

Supported input: JPEG, PNG and WebP. Output: JPEG or WebP, because browsers can only apply a quality setting to those lossy formats. Because of this:

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The image is decoded and re-encoded locally using your browser’s canvas, so it never leaves your device.

Why did my file get bigger?

Already-optimised images, screenshots and graphics can grow when re-encoded. Lower the quality, try WebP, or keep the original.

Can I compress many images at once?

Not yet. This tool handles one image at a time.
