How to use the Discount Calculator
Enter the original price and the discount percentage, then choose Calculate to see the final price and savings. If a shop offers a second discount on top (for example a coupon after a sale), enter it in “Extra discount”: it is applied to the price that remains after the first discount, not added to it.
To work backwards, use the second section: enter the original and the sale price to see the percent off.
Examples and uses
80.00 with 25% off is 60.00, so you save 20.00. A further 10% off that gives 54.00, a total saving of 26.00 or 32.5% of the original price, not 35%.
Limitations and good to know
The calculator is currency-neutral and rounds results to two decimals. It does not add tax or shipping. Stacked discounts multiply rather than add, which is why two discounts together are slightly smaller than their sum.
Frequently asked questions
How do two discounts combine?
The second is taken from the already reduced price, so 25% then 10% equals 32.5% in total, not 35%.
Does it include tax?
No. Use the GST/VAT calculator to add or remove tax.
What currency does it use?
Any. Numbers are shown without a currency symbol.
